3DSoC is an interactive 3D modeling company spun-out of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Stanford University, Palo Alto and is based in Bangalore, India.
We have developed a new patented data format for 3D model representation - "VIS" format, which is typically 100 times smaller than some of the CAD formats and is smaller than even the JPEG or GIF images. In addition to the geometric data, it is possible to specify textures, sound, animation and interactive behaviors in a VIS model. VIS models are internet ready in that these models can be viewed in a standard browser.
Our technology allows us to deliver the next generation e-catalogues and e-manuals. We help companies to create, organize, distribute and maintain technical data neccessary to perform service operations on their equipment. The companies who would need such a solution are those
Our technology allows us to deliver the next generation e-learning systems. We help e-learning companies and technical training companies to create and distribute their course content. Interactive 3D models greatly enhances the learning experience. A picture is worth a thousand words and a VIS model is worth a thousand pictures.
Our technology can be used to create 3D interactive models of consumer products. Users will be able to see, interact and feel the merchandise in its true three-dimensional form. All companies who use 2D images to advertise their products online can benefit by using VIS technology.
IDG Ventures 3DSoC has been funded by IDG Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm. Mr. Sudhir Sethi and Mr. Hemir Doshi will represent IDG Ventures in 3DSoC's board.
