- About Us
VIS is a new technology for geometry compression and representation. This patented technology has been developed by scientists at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Stanford University, Palo Alto.
Benchmark studies show reduction in file sizes between 10 to 40 times over comparable representations used for 3D visualisation and about 100 times over CAD representation. A model of average complexity is described in 10 Kb (as compared to a 1 Mb CAD representation), and can be downloaded in less than 10 seconds on narrow bandwidth connections such as dial-up or wireless.
It is possible to author content (using VISDOM) that includes manipulation and interaction with 3D geometry. This is useful in a wide range of applications. The concise nature of the representation of the entire content makes it very attractive for distribution over a network.
VIS models are highly interactive and can contain animation, hyperlinks, and voice and text annotations to facilitate education and training. VIS models are internet ready in that these models can be viewed in a standard browser.
Fields in which VIS technology can be used
VIS finds applications in the 3D Publishing and Visualisation space across industries such as Automotive, Aerospace, Heavy Equipment Manufacturing, Marine & Offshore Drilling and Healthcare to create electronic catalogues, manuals and digital mock-ups.
Richly detailed, animated and interactive training manuals with very small file-sizes can be created with VIS technology. 3D VIS models with realistic behaviour and rich user interaction allow you to create sophisticated training simulations that enable fast learning. more on e-manuals »
3D part catalogues made with VIS technology help maintain a database of 3D models of parts and their description, among others, simplifying the identification and ordering of parts.
Visually rich, animated product catalogues can be created with VIS technology, for e-shopping applications, greatly enhancing online buyers’ experience. It is a hassle-free experience as VIS models can be viewed on standard web browsers. more on e-catalogues »
The high compression factors inherent to VIS technology allow you to share highly detailed 3D models with your team over your networks. This makes it an essential tool for visualisation during design reviews. These can be viewed with VISViewer, which can be integrated into web browsers. more on visualisation »
Animated VIS files enable you to share simulations and annotated presentations with your clients, which can be viewed on their web browsers. Even low bandwidth networks are no longer bottlenecks, thanks to the high compression factors available with VIS technology.
VIS technology is ideal for the Media & Entertainment industry to create content in the Gaming/Animation space both for recreation and training.
VIS can be used to create rich internet applications with 3D content such as animated 3D commercials, interactive product demos and online product catalogues. File sizes of some VIS simulations are smaller than that of static images of the same model, making VIS a more attractive and economical choice. more on rich internet applications »
VIS also supports texture mapping, making it useful in creating game environments. Extremely small file-sizes imply that the available bandwidth can be used to create richer game experiences.
Content created with VIS are excellent educational tools, especially for e-learning. Feature rich, animated and interactive content, with extremely small file-sizes make e-learning possible even over narrowband connections.
